Obituary for LeRoy Frederick French

LeRoy Frederick French, born in South River NJ on January 7, 1934 went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 24, 2018.

He served in the United States Air Force for eight years at Tyndall Air Force Base, after basic training in Amarillo, Texas. Mr. French joined the Panama City Police Department after leaving the Air Force and served for twenty-five years. He retired as Chief of the Department in 1985. He joined the Sheriff’s Department and served as Bailiff at Bay County Courthouse until 1996.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loretta and LeRoy S. French; one brother, Robert D. French; and two sons, LeRoy F. Jr., and Robert L. French.

Mr. French is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Barbara Ann Broxton French; one son, James B. French (Brenda); granddaughter, Ashley French, whom he adored; one brother, John French (JoAnn); one sister, Doris Persing, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. French was an active member of Springfield Community Church since 1966. In keeping with LeRoy’s wishes, no services will be held. Friends and family may express condolences at the family home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Springfield Community Church Building Fund to repair damages caused by Hurricane Michael.

Mr. French was respected, loved, and admired by many people and will be greatly missed.
