Obituary for Thomas James Alfred Strange

Thomas James Alfred Strange, 86, of Wewahitchka, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017. He was born May 12, 1931 and was a lifelong resident of Gulf County. Thomas proudly served in the United States Army, earning four Bronze Star Medals, a Korean Service Medal as well as an Expert Rifle Badge. He was a practical joker at heart, who enjoyed fishing and cooking. He was known for making the best hushpuppies and coleslaw around.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Jean Crutchfield and his brother, Charlie Strange.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, Beatrice Chambliss (John) and Patricia Nunery (Jimbo); two sons, Jim Strange (Angi) and Alfred T. Strange; grandchildren,
John Jr. and Joseph Chambliss, Caleb Strange, Rashel Roe, Rev. Mike Sewell, Christy Smith, Charlene Bellanger, Deborah Strange, Lauren Fielder and Lindsey Ramos; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Beverly Pitts; and brothers, Billy Strange and Alfred Pick Strange, Jr.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staffs of Sims Veterans Nursing Home and Covenant Hospice for the love and care they provided to Mr. Strange.

A visitation will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at First Pentecostal Church in Wewa. A Funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Chad Six, Judge David Taunton and Mike Chumney officiating.
