Obituary for Shirley L. Mathis

Shirley L. Mathis, 68, of Panama City, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 2, 2017. She was born September 9, 1949 in Panama City, and has been a lifelong resident. Shirley was a loving mother and wife, and additionally a loving guardian to numerous nieces and nephews. During her free time, she enjoyed reading.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Owens; two brothers, Larry Owens and David Owens; and sister, Joyce.

Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory include her husband of 32 years, Bobby Mathis; daughter, Hailey Coatney; two sons, Timmy Grissett (Tina) and Rodney Grissett (Suzie); three grandchildren, Brianna, James “Jay” and Caden; mother, Betty Hays Owens; brother, Dennis Owens; sister, Carol Coatney; special family, Ashley, Eric, Jeffery, Jerimiah, Juliona, Jasmine, Trinity, Joyce Lynn, Barret, Kim and Sam; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 8, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
